Inside: Page 5 As all of the little details started coming together, the bus started looking more and more like an RV. On the inside the only thing that reminds you that it is just an old schoolbus is the roof. I left the roof basically like it was when I got it. Because the roof is steel, it is also magnetic so, we have been able to use all kinds of magnetized accessories. We pick up a refrigerator magnet everywhere we go and put them on the ceiling. We have nearly 30 magnets up there so far. |
![]() Our (me and the Mrs.) sleeping quarters. It is actually really nice in there. It is longer than a california king and as wide as a double bed. I got the foam custom cut to size for all of the beds from a place online. It is an 8" medium density foam mattress. I am thinking of trading in my regular bed for one of these too because it is so comfortable. |
![]() The kids' bunks. The sides are 2"x6" boards covered with batting and some vinyl that I picked up in the discount bin at the local fabric store. The steps in the shot will be covered with carpet and help conceal a very large storage area under the rear bed that holds the water tanks and all of the electronics for the battery inverter and charging system along with a lot of additional storage. |
![]() The kitchen! It's huge, isn't it? No, but it will do what we need. The cabinet is MDF covered with wallpaper. The microwave is the sole means of cooking anything inside the bus. I am thinking about installing a gas grill outside somewhere. Most of the parks and campgrounds we will visit will have grills also. |
![]() The driver seat. I got this brand new from a FlexSteel dealer. This is a 6-way power seat with swivel. It is covered with something called Ultraleather, which is very soft and comfortable and stain resistant. It is an awesome driver seat that can be adjusted to fit just about any driver comfortably. This was one of the most expensive items in the bus but, it was worth it. |
![]() Final interior with carpet. With all of the little luxury RV touches, this thing feels alot like one of the newer Class-C RVs that people are spending big-bucks on. I have right in the neigborhood of $14K total spent on this one, including the cost of the used bus. |
